While calculating the total income to decide on the rate of surcharge on income tax, if the income includes LTCG, and there is brought forward loss in LTCG, should one take the total LTCG for the year before deducting brought forward loss or take the net LTCG?

Surcharge is calculated on total income, which means after deducting the arrears.
