A MAYOR OF 4 YEARS

The tiny town of Dorset, Minnesota has a tyke for a mayor. The town doesn't hold elections; they hold a raffle. Every year, they hold the Taste of Dorset Festival and they basically draw a name out of a hat among one of the 28 residents of the town and that person gets to be mayor. The town bills itself as the restaurant capital of the world and has no formal city government. Bobby's job as mayor is to greet people as they come into the town. And he's doing a great job at it, as his election has brought a lot of PR for the town and curious onlookers who want to see the tiny mayor at work.

"The first Sunday of August every year is Taste of Dorset. Similar to Taste of Minnesota, many of the restaurants sell small portions of their food, and many businesses are open for people to look around. Some of the food includes: pizza, tacos, fried chicken, quesadillas, corn on the cob, pies, spaghetti balls, shaved ice, pork on a stick, frozen bananas and much more! Along with an average of four musical groups, there are many games for children as well, such as minnow racing and a prize wheel. The Mayor of Dorset is also named. People can put a name into the raffle for $1 all summer, and the winner is drawn at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. There are shuttle buses as well that bus people to and from their cars, as there is not much parking, only what is along the highway."
