The World’s Greatest Wisdom Concentrated in Just a Few Words

To me it is still amazing what one short string of words can do. It can empower you, put a smile on your face, make you think, encourage you to pursue your dreams, and give you strength to face any setbacks that you may encounter on your way.

Today I would like to share some of them with you:

1. “Know thyself.” — Socrates

One of the greatest, most important gifts you can give to yourself is to get to know yourself better. It takes courage. It takes surrender. It takes forgiveness and self-love to look deep down inside our heart and get to know the real us, without masks and false self-beliefs. But it is well worth the effort.

Take time to listen to your heart and find answers to questions like “Who am I?”, “What is my life purpose?”, “What makes me happy?”, “What do I want to achieve in life?”, “Where are my limits?” and “What does success mean to me?” It will be the first step to uncovering your true potential and improving your life in so many ways.

2. “This, too, shall pass.” – Persian Sufi proverb

Nothing in life is static. Our body changes. Our beliefs and desires change. Circumstances change. People around us change. There is nothing permanent in our material world. And therefore, all of our problems, failures, and struggles are temporary.

When you feel hurt, sad, disappointed, or disheartened – know that this, too, shall pass and this realization will give you strength and hope to move forward until your challenges disappear.

3. “Just do it!” – Nike

Nike said it first, but over the years this advice has not lost its actuality. Very often we tend to over think and over analyze things, being afraid to make a mistake, instead of getting out there and just doing something… anything!

Whenever, you find yourself procrastinating or obsessing about getting it right the first time, just keep in mind that any noticeable achievement is not a one shot. You can always refine and tweak, fall over and get up, adjust your actions, and try again. And again, if necessary. This is the best way to learn and the fastest way to get things done!

4. “Seize the day!” – Horace

Life can only be lived now. Living in the past is meaningless, because you can not change anything about it. Living in the future is an illusion, because just like the line of the horizon it will always remain out of your reach. The only moment that truly counts is now. Do not waste it!

5. “Remember to Live!” -- Goethe

Sometimes when I dive into the whirlpool of our efficient, task-filled world, I have a strange feeling that by being in a hurry to get everything done, I actually forget to live. Do you know what I am talking about? How long has it been since you lay in the grass and looked at the blue sky above your head, or took a long stroll on the beach, or reread one of your favorite books?

While fulfilling our obligations and duties is important, it is much more important to remember to live! To contemplate the world around us. To express ourselves. To uncover the secrets of nature. To make a positive difference in the lives of others. To pursue our own dreams.

6. “Inches make champions.” – Vince Lombardi

Vince Lombardi was talking about football, but the same rule applies to success. At the end it is that extra inch that you are willing to go that counts. That extra 1% of effort that you are willing to invest in your goals. That extra tiny leap of faith that you are willing to take and try again. Succeeding, be it in business or in your personal life is all about inches: taking a small step, then going farther still.

7. “What we think, we become.” -- Buddha

For thousands of years the sages believed that the outer world was just a reflection of our thoughts. Nowadays the Law of Attraction and quantum physics can prove scientifically that our thoughts have real power to influence our life and our self-image. What we believe about ourselves is the single biggest factor that shapes our character, directs our actions and influences other people’s opinion about us.

However, since we are able to control our thoughts and consciously chose our attitude, we can greatly influence our sense of well-being, growth and our self-confidence. Become aware of what you think about! Place more thoughts of peace, happiness, joy, love and gratitude in your mind and your life will infallibly become more peaceful, happy, and joyful!
