With all due respect, Sanket iss article me kahi nai likha ki Gandhi was a politician..

Rather its denying over it..

However Nathuram Godse killed him because Gandhi had started a never ending fast to give an amount of Rs. 55 crores to Pakistan..

Which was not acceptable as per his terms..

And kindly read eklavya's post too on page 2..

Rest its upto u..

And i m not saying Gandhi has done nothing for India..

But the thing is he gave priority to muslims over hindus..

Please refer eklavya's post too..

Thank u..

As this is the expected answer.... as i told first that its my opinion only...

And by your post and all comments given by other, the moral comes that GAndhi was a politician....

Have read eklavya's post also....

But Still i don't believe....Sorry my Friend....

You should read about him... that in which circumstances Gandhi choose Fast....

And therefore i told you all to watch the movie.... it is nicely presented in it......

True analysis of History demands objectivity, especially for those past events that happened not too long ago. Common views get polarised too often than what this objectivity calls for. Extreme views - may that be 'for' or 'against' - never represents the whole of a man, though it is agreed that in both sides of the fence there exist a certain degree of truth.

Modern History is a complex area which has been made even more complex by different ideologists. And a truly colour-less account will need a prepared mind too. Truth in its uncensored form seldom becomes wholly palatable. As for the word REAL, I share with you one Doha by Kabir ( Thank you, Teacher for presenting me with the feelings ) -

Chalti Chakki Dekh Kar, Diya Kabira Roye
Dui Paatan Ke Beech Mein,Sabit Bacha Na Koye

There is nothing that can be called REAL or PURE in between Sky and Earth (Soil).

Hello, Mr. Sanket. With all due respect I could like to say something on the subject matter,

(English has been written, as in any way it should not wrong meaning so you may find many grammatical errors, but you will be able to understand, what I wanted to say)

If/is Mahatma Gandhi was/is our father of Nation, then is it worth to know about Mr. Gandhi from Mr. Ben Kingsley's movie, ???? Gandhi has written his own Autobiography, shouldn't we read that rather than watching a movie , that too made by some outsider who could never know, the pain felt by Indians,,,, (by this I say,,,, I had a first hand, narration from, my Great Grand Mom (my father's-father's-Mother), who died at very ripe age of 102yrs, and she wasn't any teenager when India got freedom, she was well ahead in her forties,

You say Gandhi was not a politician, and every one says so, and it is the fact,, but I could further add,,, politicians are part and parcel of Government, when Gandhi was alive pre and post independence, was there any politician, leave alone Gandhi, there was no Government and no politician,

As like there can't be a pure form of Socialist Government, there can't be a pure non-violence, without being violent,

By vouching for Gandhi as peace lover, and one who loved all human being, then I could like to say, think again, The most uttered name by Gandhi was RAM, and Sri Ramchandra Ji,,, fought against the RAVANA, he didn't apply the theory of Non-violence, all the religious books of the world has only said, bad and evil has to be destroyed, wrong doer and one who is silent against it, are both equally at fault, my definition of religious books also include all the Governmental Acts and Rules and Laws,

Now coming to Human age factor,,, people get angry only when they are young and have power,,, as the twilight zone of life nears even the most violent of all recede,

He married in 1882, aged 13. His wife, Kasturbai Makanji who was also 13, was the daughter of a local merchant and was chosen for him. (Gandhi was later to speak strongly of the ‘cruel custom of child marriage’). At the end of his formal schooling he decided that he wanted to be a lawyer. To do this he had to come to England to enroll at the Inner Temple. He was called to the Bar in the summer of 1891. On his return to India, he found that he could not make a successful career as a lawyer so he moved to South Africa in 1893.”

Had he, never thought then, that very people in England were ruling India,

He was so concerned about his own Education (I don't say it is bad, but for the father of nation, it is),

When he was not successful as lawyer India, he went to South Africa, even then didn't he see, the plight of the people, then,

When he was humiliated in South Africa,,, He came to India, to take his revenge.

Mr. Nathuram Godse's reply was not released then, for the sole reasons, his reasons were thought provoking, and each and every answer that he gave to his charge sheet was true practically,

To tell you this,,, we never practiced, nor will, the Ahimsa,

Had we practiced Ahimsa, we could have not been living in Independent India, the wars of

Indo – Pakistani War of 1947.

Indo – Pakistani War of 1965.

Indo – Pakistani War of 1971.

Indo – Pakistani War of 1999 (what we call Kargil War).

These wars were not fought on the lines of Ahimsa, but on moral obligation of protecting our mother – land,

At the time of partition, the number of people died,,,,,

The partition of India was set forth in the Indian Independence Act 1947 and resulted in the dissolution of the British Raj. It resulted in a struggle between the new states of India and Pakistan and displaced up to 12.5 million people in the former British Indian Empire, with estimates of loss of life varying from several hundred thousand to a million.[1] The violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of mutual hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that plagues their relationship to this day.” - Wiki Project,

As for his Autobiography is concerned, I have read it more than ten times,

By any means, I don't say Gandhi was bad or Nathuram Godse was Good,,,,

You all are best judges, judge for your self,

Eklavya,

P.S – I have typed this, at very less time, so grammatical and spelling errors may please be Ignored.
