This is an anecdote from the Mahabharata. Yamaraja asked Yudhishtra: ‘What is the most surprising thing in this world?’

Yudhishtra replied: ‘The most surprising thing is that a person sees his friends, relatives and other persons dying, but he still behaves as if death shall never touch him!’

Death is an inevitable phenomenon, yet most people carry on with their lives, unmindful of its reality. We must realise the significance of life and death, and live life in the knowledge of wisdom of that reality.
