Test Preparation
.
In order to make a good grade on your tests, you must learn the material and review it. Some techniques to learning the material include taking notes in class and from the textbook and reviewing these notes as quickly as possible after taking them. It helps to review the notes before going into class.
.
When you are ready to review for a test, make sure that your notes reflect what your professor says will be material tested. Organize your notes so that you can study what will be on the test. Figure out how long you will need to study so that you can schedule the time. It is a good idea to figure this out a week ahead of time.
.
Often a test comes up more quickly than anticipated. When this happens, it is a good idea to look over the material that will be covered. Go through the chapters in your textbook and look for key concepts, ideas and words. Concentrate your studying on these main points.
.
It helps to keep all study guides and see if they will be useful for the test. Ask your teacher where you need to concentrate your studying. Make sure that you use any materials that the teacher gives to you, whether the material is handed out in class or on the website.
.
When the test is near, pay close attention in class for clues as to what may be on the test. Come up with some questions so that you can see if you have any answers or need to find them. If it is possible, go over some old tests given by your professor so you will have an idea of the professor’s testing style.
It may help to go into a group study session with other students in the class.
.
Discussing the key concepts, ideas and words may help all of you to better understand the material.
