TDS refund for AY 1718.

My client is not file any itr upto ay 1718 his lic commission tds deducted in ay 1718 now he wants to file itr for ay 1819 can I claim tds refund for both the ay 1718 and 1819 in itr for ay 1819.

One condition there if you file your return under condonation of delay filling return u/s 119(2)(b), then you can claim your refund

TDS for one financial year cannot be claimed in another financial year. If due date for filing of return is over, then file return for a.y 2017-18 under section 119(2)(b), which is condonation of delay. After the filing return , apply for approval of condonation of delay to the Pr. Commissioner of income tax of your jurisdiction, explaining reason for delay in filing of income tax return.
