TDS Rate for Courier charges

Dear sir,

1) What is the TDS rate for Courier Charges paid?

2) For Example:

Courier Charges -Rs. 24, 266.00 this inculdes service tax 2,266 (10.3%)

so what is the TDS for this transaction? whether we have to Calculate TDS on gross amount (24266) or after deducting the service tax? give me the reasons.

TDS should be deducted on ttal bill amount (inclusive of S Tax) U/s 194 contractor

The courier services is covered under 194c tds for contract @ 2.06% upto september after 1.10.09 the tds rate is 1% for individual and huf and 2 % for others.

tds is to be charged on gross amount including service tax so the tds will be deducted on 24266

Dear Sir,

If service tax amount is shown seperately then no need to deduct tds on service tax portion vide circular no.1/2014 date 13th jan 2014
