Yes in the reckoner that example for full year but in the above practical example rent paid only for 6 months that means newly startup business. If a newly startup business no tds to be deducted in that financial year. I think so like that.

hi,
becouse contract is for 6 months and per month amount is 15000 and i.e. 15000*6=90,000/- which is less than threshold limit(1,20,000/- upto June,2010 and from 1st July,2010 the limit is 1,80,000/-).
hence in this case tds is not applicable

Yes, You have to deduct 2% TDS ON genset rent upto 30 june 2010. After that you need not deduct tds on payment of rent.

m agree with hitesh kothari i think ur agreement is for 6 month & amount of rent is 15000 p.m. amount id 90000 so there is no need to deduct tds
