Hello,
By mistake, I have paid Tds for the assessment year 2019-2020 but I need to pay for 2020-2021. Now if I try to revise the last year's ITR it says the last date gone which was in November 2020. How to get my refund?

If the tax is paid by filling challan in bank, then filw an application for correction of A.Yr. within 7 days from the payment date.If 7 days have lapsed, then contact your concerned assessing officer for correction of challan. If tax is paid online, then you will need to contact only the concerned assessing officer ASAP. A strong followup with the bank/assessing officer is required and also check your Form 26AS for A.Yrs. 2019-20 and 2020-21 from time to time to see if the correction is being reflected. |
Thank you. How to contact my assessing officer ? Tds was paid 6 month back. So bank will not help.

You can locate your assessing officer by logging in your return e-filing account.Under profile settings->my profile->PAN details, you will find the assessing officer's address and also maybe the e-mail id...Since it is 6 months that the error has happened, it would be reflecting in your Form 26AS so maybe you can put a request for tax credit mismatch for A.Y. 2019-20 under which you can ask to reprocess your return for that year whereby after probably 1-2 months, you may get the refund.

Yes, the amount is showing in 26AS and I have applied for "Reprocess my return" Thanks.... They will auto credit my refund or I have to ask them later?
Also, I got my assessing officer email id. do I still need to email them for my correction of my assessment year issue?
There is another option there. "Tax credit mismatch correction... where I can correct my tds. But applying for "Reprocess my return"

The refund would be credited automatically. There is no need to contact the Assessing officer since return is put for re-processing by CPC.
