25 June 2010We, a govt organisation, have give a contract to a private company for some services which attract TDS u/s 194C. The Service Tax is also applicable on the contract. Kindly advise whether the TDS is to be deducted on the whole value of contract (inclusive of Service Tax) or on the basic value only (Excluding Service Tax).

TDS will be deducted on gross bill amount which means it will include service tax.

TDS deductible on service tax component also.
TDS not deductible om service tax in case of rent only.

yes tds is to be deducted on service tax also other than rent. pls see the attached file.
