10 September 2021If an assessee gets interest on security given to electricity department (interest amount liable to TDS)
then is it not department's responsibility to deposit the TDS?
Department has not deducted tis and is now claiming the same with interest from assessee.

If you have already paid tax liability over the interest income, you may state the same and deny for any additional TDS being deducted; by providing them CA's certificate.
For current year, there is no other option.
