05 May 2011What is the % of tds to be deducted for contractors, consultants and for Rent? What is the threshold of all ? The rule for consultants and contractors is same?
If iam paying 3000 p.m. as consultancy fee so for per annum it exceeds 30,000/- so tds to be deducted or not?

Consultants and Contractors have to be differentiated on the basis of the seervice they provide u.
If it is in the nature of a professional service it is under Sec 194J Professional services and if it is in the nature of contract it is 194C.
you can actually go into google to get the complete chart for the TDS and other details.
