for thresh hold limit of Rs.180000, only the amount paid for rent will be considered and nothing else . for payments made to landlord for varoius utility services such as maintainence charges etc , tds is to be deducted u/s 194 c

only rent quotient to be seen for threshold limit of Rs 180000 provided that the payment for utilities is against the bills raised by the landlord seperately.

TDS will be deductible only on Rent portion.
If any other utility charges are also being paid then it must be separately mentioned in the Bill or a separate bill should be raised for that.
Also you can refer the rent agreement, if the other utility charges are part of Rent then in such case TDS to be deducted on both.

I have a query regarding my Rent expenses. I am staying away from my hometown. I pay rent of Rs.7000 per month.
So total comes toRs.84000 for year. My HRA is Rs 16032 per month from employer. How much is the benefit I get from Tax perspective? How much mon2y will exumpt under section 80GG?

Basic Salary is Ra. 32194
HRA is Rs. 16097
Medical Reimbursement is Rs.1250
Conveyance Allowance is Rs.800
Special allowance is Rs.9659 ( Total per month is Rs.60000 )
