Tds on gratuity

Deat All,

Is the employer required to deduct tax on the gratuity even if the amount of Gratuity paid is less than 10 Lakhs...?

To my knowledge Tax need not be deducted if the amount is less than the exempted amount of gratuity u/s 10 (10).

Kindly Clarify
