Me and my spouse have booked a flat recently. We didnt deduct the 1% TDS as builder mentioned they will deposit the TDS on our behalf. Later, the builder backed out and wanted us to deposit the TDS. Since it was urgent and I was not available immediately, my father in law deposited the TDS amount to C.A. (into C.A.'s bank account) and CA submitted the TDS to govt. I am thinking of depositing the TDS amount to my father in law's account. Is that important to be done (to reflect that my father in law paid on our behalf)? Is it mandatory that the TDS amount MUST go from the buyer's account only or my father in law depositing it is fine? All flat cost payments have been made through my bank account RTGS. Kindly advise.
