Tax queries 843 views 10 replies

Hi

TDS for AY 2015-16 and AY 2016-17 is deducted by the company but not yet reflected in 26AS. And for both years income chargeable to tax is below taxable limit. For the same reason I have not yet filed ITR.

Do I file the return as per form 16 in which TDS deducted is mentioned??

Please help.

you can get refund for both years. department dont give credit for tds as it is not reflected in 26AS. whether form 16 is generated from traces?.
wrong pan may be quoted by the company in their TDS returns
form 16 is not generated from traces
fake form 16 then

Hi, The Form 16 or 16A is valid only from TRACES with Digitally signed by resopnsible deductor. Please suggest your Deducter to correct their TDS returns with proper details / PAN's.

1. If you have a Form 16, then you may file the return taking the figure reflected in the form You should also ask the company to revise its TDS returns.

2. Your income may not have exceeded the Basic Exemption limit, but if you want to get the refund of TDS, you need to file the return of income.

Besides, for AY 2015-16, you need to file the return on or before 31.03.2017 (last date for belated return). After which getting refund of TDS is a bit more difficult.

FILL RETURN FOR AY 2015-16

IF NOT REFLECTED IN FORM 26 AS U WONT GET CREDIT OF TDS

I want to give Rs. 10000 as a donation to GCS Medical College hospital & Research Centre. How many rupees  I can get deduction u/s 35 (1)(2)?

175% of contribution made to approved research association, university, college or other institution to be used for scientific research shall be allowed as deduction (Subject to certain conditions)

150% of sum paid to such association, university, college or other institution is allowed as deduction (applicable from AY 2018-19)

As the credit not
appearing in 26AS, you should take up the matter of mismatch in the TDS/TCS, with your Deductor /
Collector so that corrective action can be taken by the Deductor / Collector. After the correction is done
and the corrected statement filed by your deductor which will appear in 26AS, you can apply for
online rectification under section 154 to get the benefit of unmatched credits
