13 December 2008If there is a sale of accounting books by printing the company's as it is prescribed and VAT is leavied by the vendor.As per 194c if there is any work on user specifications it will come under contractand deduct TDS.my doubt is both TDS and VAT simulataniously applicable or not..

Yes, they can be levied simultaneously as VAT is levied on the sale of goods whereas TDS is levied on the income of an assessee prior to the assessment. Hence, they can be.

yes both can be levied as VAT n TDS are different laws.....vat is applicable on sale of goods and tds is applicable on " any sum paid" SO tds is deducted on whole amount including VAT.

I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER TDS IS TO BE DEDUCTED AND PAY IN THE FOLLOWING CASE
1 MY CLIENT IS A RECRUITING AGENT SENDING PEOPLE OUT OF INDIA FOR JOBS IN THAT CASE HE GETS THE CANDIDATES INSURED DURING TRAVEL THE INSURANCE POLICY LASTS FOR 2 YEARS. BUT GETS INSURED THROUGH SOME AGENT HE JUST GIVES RECEIPT OF THE PAYMENT. IN THIS CASE IS MY CLIENT SUPPOSED TO CUT TDS AND PAY ON THE INSURANCE AMOUNT PAID TO THE AGENT ? IF YES, HOW MUCH.
