Dear Rajendra,
There is judement on stipend received by article during his articleship under CA on the fact that the same is classified as "Scholorship" which is exempt u/s 10(16)..
So based on that judgement, I think it will be exempt in the present case also...
But facts of the case may change verdict..................

Dear Amir,
Only stipend received by a CA article is exempt not others as per case you are talking about.
So, stipend received by a student (doctor) pursuing PG is taxable

STIPEND RECEIVED IS TAXABLE. SEC 10(16) PROVIDES THAT ANY FEE RECEIVED FOR SCHOLARSHIP PURPOSE SHALL BE EXEMPT & FOR STUDENTS DOING ARTICLESHIP IN CA TOOK THIS AS AN ADVANTAGE FOR NOT ATTRACTING TDS ON STIPEND AS PER A CASE LAW.
BUT BEFORE FEW DAYS I HEARD THAT THE CASE LAW IS NOT STANDING ANY MORE STRONG FOR NOT ATTRACTING TDS.THUS IN THAT CASE TDS SHALL BE ATTRACTED AS ACT HAS NVR PROVIDED DESCRIPTION OF CA STUDENTS OR ANYTHING AS SUCH.
