08 January 2014Can someone explain me or give me a link where i can understand the following two concepts related to share trading :
1. Notional Gain/ Loss on trading in shares. (Under which head is it taxable & at what rate. Or is it exempt?)
2. Open Sell position : Herein, only the selling value & selling rate is mentioned & the entire value is taken as gain as per the broker's statement.

As per Section 111A, shares (short term) is taxable @ 15%...
Is it your business or investment ?

My friend read it again...i just want to know the taxability of shares under the above mentioned cases. Since they are not the usual share trading transactions.
