refund for ay 2012-13 has been received but not 143(1) intimation .does receiving refund mean assessment is over ?

if the refund is received then you can say that tentatively the asst. is over...though the dept has a right to start the scruitiny, but it generally will not happen

143(1), you will receive in the due course...but since the refund is sent, the asst can be presumed to be over...

U can check the status of ur return in your incometaxindia.efiling.gov.in account. I think so that ur return must have processed u/s 143(1).

Also 143(1) doesn't mean that assessment is over. As section 143(2) r.w.s 143(3) can come into the picture. The deptt can recover the refund alongwith interest u/s 234D.

However, the scrutiny proceedings are generally done in the case of larger files where stakes are high.

Kannan,

assuming that you filed the return online, you have the option of requesting for 143(1) intimation online. But as others have already stated, department do reserves the right to scrutnize the return. There have been cases where return was processed by CPC and later on sent to jurisdictional AO for assessment/ verification.

Dear Kannan,

Firstly I want to say that 143(1) is not any type of assessment. its an intimation letter which is sent by CPC Bangalore when ur filled return is going thru the process of computr checkng...and if found everythng is correct then it is sent.

So when u get the refund it means dat ur filled return is accepted by CPC.It can be possible that ur intimation has been lost in transit..plz check ur email bcz dey also sent d soft copy of intimation letter.

Once u get d cheque..u need not to b worried...
