Dear all, please tell me what is the tax rate on LTCG on sale of equity shares purchased after Oct.2004 and are listed on recognised stock exchange on which STT is also paid.

no tax to be paid it is exempt u/s. 10(38)
when you pay STT capital gains are exempt
Under sec. 10(38), On or after Oct 1, 2004 LTCG is exempt for the above specified condition
Under sec. 10(38), On or after Oct 1, 2004 LTCG is exempt if STT ha been paid
