Yes for interstate sale whether taxable or exempt.you have to take gst registrqtion

If you are deal intra state (Local state) sales then no need registration if your turn over above 20lakhs...
But,
If you want sell inter state (other state) sales then Registration mandatory without thrshold limit...!!!
