Hi,

I had received an IT demand notice for AY 2008 -09. After verifying in the Income Tax site I saw that there was a total of 3 outstanding tax demand pertiaining to 3 assessment years viz 2008 -09, 2009 - 10 and 2010 -11.

In order to get details from IT department, I filled an RTI application a month back.

Now I have receieved there reply which basically contains copies of rectification order under section 154 for AY 2008 -09 and AY 2010 - 11. Order under section 143(a) for AY 2009 - 10.

The tax demand has been substantially reduced and I basically want to pay this amount and close the chapter.

I basically want to know the following:

1. How do I pay the tax for the rectification order (an amount roghly 2000).

2. Do I need to pay through nsdl site (https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp). And If so what challan and type of payment to choose?

3. After paying the tax do I need to do anything? I mean do I need to fill any online form and transmit like the way we do usual online tax payment

4. Will the IT department clear the demand on its own after tax payment or I need to inform them by sending copy of the challan along with copies of the demand.

Please note that the original tax for the 3 assessment year was paid manually and not online through CPC.

Regards,

Saurav
