The extension is NOT wanted for the benefit of the CA Fraternity!!!
Taxpayers have NOT been able to spend time for Accounts Finalisation at all!!!!!! Any number of calls you make from an Auditor office also, the Client/Accountant has always prioritized the filing of GST returns
10th October - GSTR 1 of July 2017
10th to 20th October - GSTR 3B of September 2017
30th October (till 4 PM) - GSTR 2 of July 2017
GSTR 2 has been extended at the last minute and all Clients/Accountants are now only even thinking of finalising the accounts for Income Tax purposes.
Therefore the extension is very much required for the taxpayers to submit details to CA's, get Audit Report and thereupon file Income Tax Return.

Yes it should be extended, as we are not having time because of GST Returns.
