Hi All,
I am using Tally 7.2. I saved all the data which I entered in Tally into a CD. Now
I want to restore the data to another system from CD to Tally 7.2.
Please help on this issue.
Thanks in advance.

the easy way to take backup from one PC to another PC is right click on icon of tally and then click on properties then click on shortcut tab click on find target then a window will open in which a folder of "Data" will be there.
open that Data folder and copy the company's data file of which u want to take backup and then write the same on CD.
now insert the CD in other Computer and then same process as above. paste the same file in data folder and now open the tally and work on same

First you tell that, how you have taken the backup, by copy paste method, or by tally backup system ?

Agree with the experts. Follow the same process suggested above.

above procedure is currect pl follow it.
and
if you are regularly using tally any verson , then you have to learn these triks.
you can ask about how to migrate data, synchronisation data, import export data, how to copy transactions feeded in one computer and import them in same company but on another computer , what is TDL , how many free TDLS are available with me, etc... ask anything about any verson till tally erp 1.8......

The experts have suggested the right methods. However, if you are copying data from a CD, then make sure the data when pasted into the Tally Data folder is not in the read only mode.

Dear,
After pasting the data into your computer don't forget to change the attribute of data from read only to archive.

There are two modes of transferring data from one sysyem to another
1. (TALLY OFF TOOL) - Check the location of data files maintained & file no. of the company using F1 key at the tally gateway. Then go to that place using CD Buring Software and burn that file (e.g. 0001) to the CD & paste that file to place (see using F1 button in tally gateway of other system) in other computer using Explorer.
2. (TALLY ON TOOL) - Take simply the backup of the company using intial tally gateway and burn that to CD and open tally in other system and make restore of that backup at your preferred place.
