Could anyone explain the procedure to surrender a VAT registration in Karnataka?
What happens to the balance stock?
How long should the process take?

Hi Jyothi,
A registered dealer can surrender the registration if the dealer has ceased to carry on the business (sale/purchase). A final return (giving details of sales & purchases till the date of closure) needs to be filed and letter seeking cancellation of certificate may be filed along with the Original VAT certificate.
If you are proposing to sale the stocks left with you, it will not be correct to surrender the certificate.
