what is the procedure of surrendering a PAN CArd?

Mr. sanjeeb the procedure is stated as follows:

1. If you have only 1 (One) PAN then you have to contact your assessing officer for surrender of your PAN;

2. If you have more than 1 (One) PAN then you can surrender the PANs in excess of 1 (One) to any TIN-FC (Tax Information Network-Facilitation Centre) near by you. For details of TIN-FCs please log on to www.tin-nsdl.com .

if there is single PAN then contact AO if more then one fill form with tin facilation centre

Surrender one PAN - contact your assessing officer

More than 1 PAN then you can surrender the PAN toTIN Facilitation Centre....

Hi All,

with the recents updates and changes the site has moved to the below link, to surrender your additional PAN's

You will need to click on the 3rd point mentioned there.. furnish all the details and click submit after which you will recieve the Complaint No. .. please make sure that you have that noted some where because that is the only way you can proof that you have submitted the request for cancellation of your additional PAN card.

Our partnership Firm has dessolved i have surrenderd PAN card, to whom i will surrendered pan card?

I have a only one PAN CARD in Gujrat jusdiction and I am in bangalore. I want to get rid of my old pan card and want to get the new one.

1. In case of having one card, I need to contact to Assessing Officer, as mentioned here. so should I go to Gujrat again for surrendering again ?

2. I do not want to face the AO, So can I apply for new PAN Card in Bangalore and once I recieve the same, based on having two PAN Card, Can I submit the old PAN card to any TIN-FC Centerto surrender?

Is there any thing illegal or panelty imposed on such transaction?

3. What could be good reason to mention for surrendering the PAN Card in case of point no. 2.

After submitting the application online, will I have to send the original PAN to Income Tax Department also, if yes, then what will be the procedure for follow up?
