Practice manuals issued by the institute are gonna be your best bets when it comes to theory subjects.
I used them and scored pretty decent marks in audit, law and ISCA

You can prepare from any book It doesn't really matter much because at the end of the day all the books cover the same matter So get the concept in your head and try to present in a way which impresses the examiner and the practice manual impresses the examiner better than anyone. So prepare from a book which you find it easy to study and then checkout the questions in practice manual to get an idea as to how to present the answers.....Even I followed Surabhi Bhansal for Auditing and our Jayaraman sir's material for law and I ended up with 76 marks in both law and auditing ... Cheers! :)

ICAI expect answers from your way and not from either surbhi bansal or ICAI materials. If you can able to present in your own way effectively, then that answer will be more valuable
