Exemption u/s 10(13A) is least of the following:

1. Actual amount received

2. 50% of Salary (basic,DA) in case of delhi, mumbai,calcutta and chennai, 40% in other cities.

3. Rent paid less 10% of salary (basic,DA) due for the relevant period

PLZ note since he is a public servant, i think he enjoys exemption under some other law.......
