If the original return has been filed within time under section 139(1)first he should file acknowledgement with the department and then he should revise the return.

Sorry boss, you can't submitt another manual return without filing ack, because once you filed the return either efiling or manual it results if filing the return. So, if you want file another it must be revised

It should be noted that if the ack of the return is not sent to bangalore within 60 days (for AY 09-10)(within 15 days for AY 08-09), then no return is deemed to have been filed u/s 139(1) , hence what u file now will be the original return u/s 139(1) (within due date ) or 139(4) (belated ). No need to revise if the original return itself is deemed to be invalid . Also a letter explaining the facts maybe filed with the department along with the manual return, provided that limit of 60 days /15 days is expired .
