STCG on Shares Sold in May-June2010

I got around 1000 bonus shares of a company in November 2009.

If i sell them now, at what rate should i set aside my STCG Liability? I mean, for AY 2011-12, budget 2010 will be applicable.
But i dont know the rate of STCG on shares according to this budget.

Pls some1 tell me the rate.

Dear Friend.

Your question is incomplete. here u did not mention that whether the shares are listed on recognized stock exchange or Not , Whether STT Paid on the same. if the shares are list on recognized stock exchanged and STT has been paid on the same than this shares are taxable Under section 111A @ 15% as STCG. Otherwise tax liability will be calculated at the normal tax rate.

Hello Suvrana,

If STT has been paid on the transaction of sale then STCG will be taxed @ 15% U/s 111A, other wise the STCG will be taxed at normal slab rates applicable for individuals.
