Srevice tax on rent by trust
dear friends, if the building is in the name of trust or religious body then, whether they can collect Service tax on rent on such building?

If the building is let on rent by the trust and such rental income exceeds Rs.8 lacs per annum, then they are liable to collect service tax @ 12.36%
Yes by all means, as it gets covered under business and commerce definition
The trust is not restricted from provding any taxable services
