stock of popular, fast moving items should turn more often (up to 12 times per year). Slow moving items may turn only once, or not at all.
ABC ranking system can be used to show up difference in the 180 days lump stock or nearly dead stock or obsolete stock.
second method is to set up a criterion to group these stocks
calculation of inventory turn in monthly basis or 3 month basis or 6 month basis is also widely used
