We all lead this fast lives each day forgetting all those tiny little things that happen around us... Just too busy to even look at a child playing, or to stare at a squirrel collecting nuts or to patiently listen to the cooing of a coocoo..
Am no exception -- i too face the problem each day... each morning i start out... i have a list going through my mind simultaneously of all the wonderful things i have to do... (some pending from last feb)..
..like to fill up my scrapbook with the newspaper cuttings i have been preserving from the last 3 years..(you can imagine the kind of bunch i would have collected in one 3 years).... decorate my whole room with the small and big things i buy from various exhibitions, to colour my wooden table, to paint...( even my paints give me that sulky look when i open up them out of fear that they will get dry if i don't use them up)..... to play melodious tunes on my Casio and Harmonica -- mouthorgan ( my biggest guilt area coz i haven't even allowed a single note to come out of my casio from the past 4 years).... write a small poem....
I understand the list is endless... just like yours would be if you were to think about...
And then came yesterday when i was taking out old books to be given as scrap and i found this 9th standard science notebook.. and on its last page was written this poem... SLOW DANCE
Somehow after reading it i realized the futility of haste... i was like.. What am i going to achieve in future if m not enjoying the process...if am not enjoying NOW..
So here i share it with all of you... READ IT SLOWLY.. DON'T GO THROUGH IT IN HASTE..
COZ THEN THE MEANING WON'T LAST...
MUCH LONGER IN YOUR MIND!!
SLOW DANCE -- David Weatherford
Have you ever
watched
kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to
the
rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a
butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the
fading
night?
You better slow down.
Don't
dance so
fast.
Time is short.
The music
won't
last.
Do you run through each day
On
the
fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear
the
reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie
in your
bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through
your head?
You'd better
slow down
Don't dance so
fast.
Time is
short.
The music won't
last.
Ever told your
child,
We'll do it
tomorrow?
And in your
haste,
Not see
his
sorrow?
Ever lost
touch,
Let a good
friendship die
Cause you
never had time
To call
and say,'Hi'
You'd
better slow down.
Don't dance
so fast.
Time
is short.
The music won't
last.
When you run
so fast to get somewhere
You
miss half the fun of getting
there.
When you worry and hurry
through your
day,
It is like an unopened
gift....
Thrown
away.
Life is not a
race.
Do take it
slower
Hear the
music
Before the song is
over...
