Signing of Financial Statements?

Stat Audit 1388 views 2 replies

Dear Members,

Is it necessary for an auditor to sign the finacial statements of a company (turnover > 40 lacs) audited by him?

If so, then is it necessary for him / her to inscribe his / her membership number on the statements?

Can you please provide me with the relevant section (Company Law) wherein i can find the necessary details?

Thank You

Dear Ashish,

Yes. It is necessary for the auditor to sign the Financial Statements. Otherwise there is no authenticity to the Financial Statements of the Company. The signing auditor should mention his Name and Membership No. in the Audit Report.

If a Partnership Firm is appointed as an auditor then the partner of the firm shall mention his name, membership no., the Name of the P'ship Firm and the Registration No. of the Partnership Firm.

Thank You, Devendra.

Can you provide me with the relevant section number from the Indian Companies Act / The Chartered Accountants Act?
