EZ Gets Central Nod To Pull Out

Gandhinagar The request of N G Realty Private Limited to denotify its engineering SEZ for at Rajoda village in Ahmedabad district has been cleared by the central government’s Board of Approval (BOA) for SEZs, sources in the state government said.

“The developer was granted approval for setting up an engineering SEZ over an area of 230 hectares on May 23, 2007. The SEZ was notified in phases and it presently stands notified over 217 hectares. While requesting for de-notification of the SEZ, the developer cited unstable SEZ policy and imposition of minimum alternate tax and dividend distribution tax as reasons for its decision to withdraw,” sources said.

“The developer has agreed to refund the benefits availed under SEZ Act,” they added.

Meanwhile, a new proposal from M/s Anique Infrastructure Private Limited for setting up a multi-product SEZ at villages of Pakhajan, Limdi, Kesvan, Padalpor and Trankal in Vagra taluka of Bharuch district has been given in-principle approval. The SEZ will come up on 1,380 hectares.

The BOA has also given a conditional clearance to an SEZ for IT/IT-enabled services in Dascroi for increase in area of operations. ENS
