Service tax whether applicable

we are job platers in the premises of the manufacturer, who send the material to us under excise challan rule 4(5)(a)

and after processing we are sending it back to them . These same goods aree painted finished and cleared by paying excise . Our annual billing is less tha 1 cr .

my query is should be take the service tax number ?

Let me knowe what process going on by you.    yor are fabricator....?

it is electroplating

You may contact your near excise range office and confirm with your excise superindent for register under service tax or not.

if your all services are covered under the excise challan u/r 4(5)a, then no service tax liability, for your safeguard u have to buy the cathodes in name of party only, as use of self raw materials in job work, ( excluding consumable stores) may generate prob at later stage.

 

Thanks for the reply , but i forgot to mention that our company has a different entity , still do we need to but the raw material in the manufacturers name

if work perform by u is manufacture as per excise difinition than no need to regd with ST department ..otherwise need to regd under St dept...!!

since electroplating is a manufacturing process becos it change product identity...!!

 So u r no need to register as servcive provider...!!!!
