When to start the service tax collection
Engaged in Travel agent service and the turnover has crossed Rs.10 lakh on 31st December 2010 (FY 2010-11).
No service tax is collected and paid till date.
I have following queries
1) When to take ST registration
2) which date onwards service tax liabilty arises, and
3) from which date onwards service tax to be collected

Dear Safeer
As soon as gross receipts crossed Rs. 1000000/- its mandatory to get registration under service tax. Although when the gros receipts crosses the limit of Rs. 900000/-, the assessee shall get itself registered.
as per your case from 1st Jan 2011 you should collect service tax on bills generated on or after 1st Jan, 2011.
