Service tax on renting of immovable properties

Hi,

Mr X rents out immovable property for running graduation and master degree classes such as BA, Bcom, BSC, Mcom and MA to an educational institution. Is the service of renting of immovable property to such an educational insititution is expemted from service tax? What al documents Mr X needs to collect from educational institution to ensure the education provided by such institution is expemted from service tax?

Renting of immovable property to an educational institution is exempted vide Notification No.25/2012 dated 20.6.2012.The only documents you are required are the documents which shows that the institution to whom the premises is given on rent is a educational institution.
