my question is my friend works as a labour contractor for carpenter works...
how much tax should he collect?
5.6% or any other figure??
what is the notification number of the abatement ??

If he is only supplying man power to a company then he need not collect. Company has to pay. If not then from 1.6.2015 he has to collect 14% .

Original work 60% abatement
Maintenece, repairs etc 30% abatement
Other 40%
And in case of supply of manpower only no abatement subject to reverse charge machinism

Yes ,wef 01 .10.2014 in case of repair & maintenance only 30 % abatement is allowed.

There is no abatement for labour charges- present rate of ST is 14.5%. However the Rs. 10 Lakhs SSP exemption can be exmaine dif available.
