Service tax for housing society

Queries 499 views 1 replies

Hi,

I have recently received a society accounting work wherein they are collecting service tax because their monthly contribution towards maintenances of each member is more than Rs. 5000/-.(output). Their total annual contribution towards maintenance is well over Rs. 10 Lakh.

The society is paying service tax (input) to housekeeping, security, telephone, internet, swimming pool maintenaces, club house etc. as per the bill provided by the service provider.

My query is can service tax paid to the service provider be taken as credit against the service tax collected from members. Is this credit facility applicable to cooperative housing society.

Can someone give me more information regarding it.
