09 December 2013For a small company like mine, Service Tax is a Huge burden, as I make it Inclusive in the Invoice, to be in good terms with my clients.
I know that Export of Service is exempt from Service Tax - say I provide service to a client who is in Canada.
So if I shift my entire Client base to Canada & USA , and reduce Indian clients, I don't have to pay Service Tax , right?
Or is there any other Tax ?

Good question from an entrepreneur..!!!
Service tax applicability depends on the nature and scope of service rendered. In certain cases even if the service rendered to foreign client becomes taxable in India due to the applicability of place of provision of servie rules.
