04 August 2012My client being an Individual as Contractor is providing the folowing Services to Textile Industry i.e. Reliance Industries Ltd Detailed as under:-
" Mending & Folding work of Grey Fabrices from Lumps size to Smaller/Cut sizes"
Whether such service is subeject to Service tax Net as per revised Service tax law based on Negative List if exceeded the threshould limit of Rs.9 lacs during the F.Y.
please confirm.

Hello Mr. Sanjay
If the process carried out by the contractor does not amount to Manufacture then YES service tax would be charged on such services if the value of such service exceeds Rs. 10 Lacs in a FY.
