Subject : seeking advise

hi.. ihave attempted pcc exam three times.but a dint clear yet. i got exemption in accounts in second attempt. in last exam my audit paper was too good. i was so sure to score minimum 65. but i got only 42. my other papers were also good enough. so i was sure to clear pcc. but.. hard luck.. my other friends who dint do well, haev passed with a big surprise.. i dont know where i'm lacking. according to me 'm on the track. i dont know what our institute want.. can you give me any suggestion??? a want to clear this time...

First of all congrats for getting exemption in Accounts paper. Dont get disheartened.

I feel you might be knowing the chapters to be concentrated by this time in Auditing.

I feel and suggest to write Auditing paper with explanation, examples and on practical note apart from

theorotical explanation.

First of all, I surprised to note that this is posted by a CA student in the early morning and that also for problem of other student !!

It shows how the contents of site is being utilized by the CCI members.

All the marks obtained in different subjects have not been written in the query.

The following may be the reasons of poor marks scored by Pranali :

1. Fear of covering syllabus all the time.

2. You have not written which books and materials you referred and how ? (This is the one of the important question).

3. Poor explanations in Auditing. The reason being you tried to use book language only.

4. You have not read Auditing Standards properly and if read; not mentioned in the exam questions at suitable place. Until you quote; you will never get 60 marks in auditing.

5. Auditing requires practical exposure in the subject. I presume that you don't have enough practical auditing experience.

6. Since your appeared for many times; now there is no interest in the subjects. You just cover the syllabus again in the same pattern which you applied earlier hence no improvement in marks is seen.

7. Losing confidence in exam days.

sir u scared me by saying this...we are ipcc students nd we dont have any practical exposure...what to do??will this be a threat to us while attempting audit paper?

Dude i feel that the presentation matters a lot..

its not that we dont know the subject, but may be we are not able to present it properly....

an examiner hardly gives 5 to 7 minutes for a paper,,

so our 3 to 4 months preparation is rewared in 7 minutes.......

try solving question papers, match ur answers with suggested answers provided by institute, u can get the difference & improve urself.....

Dear Sneha,

Your argument is right. But the question has been raised by a PCC student who had advantage of practical training.

In professional examinations; if you wish to score high; then definitely some knowledge about each subject is a must. This must be understood well when a student joins CA course.

In most of the cases; students and their parents never take this pain despite knowing the fact that CA is the toughest course. The students should know at the time of joining CA what is full syllabus of the course.

The tendency of not referring the whole syllabus is due to past habit till graduation which never works in professional examinations. Those who mould themselves according to the professional requirements; get through (although they were average till graduation) and most brilliant students who scored high marks till past; fail in CA.

Many students would argue after joining the course that how we could know all about that ?

I say, it is not impossible. How many firms you have visited before choosing this course ? In most of the cases; the course is chosen on the advice of students pursuing CA.

Ask a CA final student what he will do after passing CA ? And I am sure; more than 90% students would be unable to tell clearly what they will do after CA qualification.

Listen Vikas... In CA exams presentation alone matters. Whatever you prepared before exams, you have to present in nice manner. For example if a practical question is asked in auditing, try to give reference of Section No/AS No/SA No. First write what the act says, then analyse the case given in question accordingly. Same approach follow for law also. In law, study the case laws given in institute material. Because most of the practical questions come from CASE LAWS only. In Infotech, its really presentation that gives you marks. Break your answer into points and give side heading for each point. You will surely get 60+ in info. For Tax and Costing, practice a lot and solve past year question papers. All the best.
