Yes, Mr. X can claim both the expenditure as deduction under section 80DD.
There is also a limit of maximum claim can be made of Rs.50000 but if the person is having severe disability, then Rs.100000/-.

Hi,
Want to clarify one thing. Medical Insurance cannot be claimed as nothing of sorts is mentioned in Sec 80DD. Although you can take benefit of treatment expenses u/s 80DDB, but i have a doubt that mediclaim cannot be claimed as deduction.
Still, will wait for others to clarify.

Yes..medical expenses paid are allowed. Not Mediclaim.
