I have not purchased medical insurance yet, however can my medical expenses be deducted up to Rs.5000 under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act?

If you have spent medical expenses on parents -30000/- allowable for senior citizens.
Self, Spouse ,Children-5000/- can be claimed if spent by you towards health check-up
