My company provides professional services under Sec 194J has certificate for deducting TDS at lower rate ie 4.63%. The certificate is valid till 31.3.2015. But after filing TDS return for Q2 using 4.63% rate, the company got intimation from department for short deduction of TDS. The department wants company to pay TDS @ 10%.
What should I do?

if ur company is providing professional services and had requested others to deduct tds at lower rates by showing the certificate....
and if the certificate is valid you can now show that to the department by writing a letter along with the demand letter which they had given to u that u had received the certificate for lower tds deduction....!!!

Dear Neha,
Please Check your TDS return first, may be in the return you have not selected the column for deduction at lower rate and also mention the no of Certificate.
Secondly you have to revise your TDS return in this case to correct the same.
The department will only consider the details which are mention and shown in the TDS return.
