I had posted this earlier in SAP community forum in reply to a question where a member seeking information about the course had asked:
You also have an option to study in ICAI at a subsidized rate(however, cannot vouchsafe for quality of teaching there). At Seimens or companies like that, you have to shell-out Rs.3 Lacs plus to get a Certified Training and certified exam sitting opportunity. You cannot take-up the Certified exam without attending the certified training with an approved Institute (Approved by SAP Company).
ICAI has been approved as educational partner. However, they dont offer implementation experience.
So you have 3 options here:
1 and best option: Go for the fullfledged course shelling out Rs.3 Lacs plus with an SAP approved Institution and then get placed easily, through their own network.
2nd Option: If you dont have that much money to dole, then go for ICAI(It costs roughly 1.2 Lacs including the certified exam which also comes at a subsidized rate) but you dont have implementation experience or placement assurance here.So after you get your certification, you need to try for yourself and get a job.Which is not very difficult as Certification from SAP is valuable.
3rd Option: Join a company which offers lateral training into SAP and then induction into their team. However, without certification you cannot go places easily but have to wait it out for other consultants to over-take you and you meanwhile gain experience and then finally one day you can start growing fast. There is lull-period here. The only advantage in this option is:Your wallet/purse is not troubled much!
So the choice is yours.
(Caution: There is a 4th underground option too:Which is going to an unapproved institution and tryign to learn SAP for cheap. My advice is don't go for unapproved coaching centres and waste your time. From time to time SAP company conduct raids on such institutions and close down such fradulent coaching centres under infringement of copyrights and Trademarks. They also pounce upon students too sometimes for fines and penalities. So,not worth the risk.)
Also,SAP needs a certified server to work on.
You need to choose FI and CO modules first as you come from a Financial/Costing/Internal Control side. There are other modules too but then start with this. Also, industrywise, these modules are the nervecentre for SAP all other module subscreens pass through these modules.
If you have technical knowhow/interest then go for ABAP too.
Best of luck.
