Salary in schedule-1 tds?

TDS 1427 views 3 replies

Sir,

Yesterday, I filed my income tax return (ITR-1). In the return form, there is Schedul1-TDS, where ‘Income Under Salary’ was pre-filled from Form 26AS. I did not change the same and submitted the return. The amount which was pre-filled from Form 26AS was actually ‘Gross Salary’ paid by employer i.e. the amount was before section 10 deductions. Today, my friend asked me whether that amount should be ‘Gross Salary’ or ‘Salary after section 10′. Now, I am confused. I searched various sites, but, answer is different everywhere. Can you please guide me what is correct? Also, do I need to file return again in case it should be ‘Salary after section 10′?

Thanks, Ashish

There is no need to change amount mentioned in your 26AS or form 16. You can take the exemption mentioned in Section 10 in your statement of income.

you dont need to file return again.... normally gross salary is only indicated that field but some professionals fill net salary payable, some fill salary after deduction of sec 10..... so there is no fixed rule.

Yes, there is no need to revise return of income in 26as employer always show gross salary in ITR it come up with net salary. dont worry about the same.
